Who can i contact in North Carolina about putting up a deer crossing in my neighborhood?

Who do i contact about putting up a road sign on a road to where i live. For about 3 years now the population of deer has been increasing in my area and I have come very close to hitting them with my car. This road is a two lane road, its very curvy and when its night time it can be very dark. Who can i contact about this? I live in North Carolina, Iredell county.Who can i contact in North Carolina about putting up a deer crossing in my neighborhood?
I live in rural Maine, and I know exactly what you are talking about. Don't listen to those idiots, they are just trying to make themselves look cool. My suggestion would be to contact the town/city hall and talk to the parks and recreation department. Or if you have a Game and Wildlife Association they may be able to help out. The other option that I believe someone else posted is to contact the Department of Transportation because they are the ones who actually put most of the road signs up. The road I live off of has many curves and looong straitaways and a 45mph speed limit, in a town with no local cops, just county sheriffs and state police but very minimal, so most people speed, especially at night, which is when the deer are likely to cross. And even though I know the road very well and usually anticipate the deer, I have still had quit a few close calls over the years, so I understand what you are talking about. The DOT is your best bet unless your town has a gmae and wildlife commission.Who can i contact in North Carolina about putting up a deer crossing in my neighborhood?
It鈥檚 quite obvious that you don't read your answers. I gave you the phone number of the person that you need to talk to. I answered your question and you ignored it. Well, I hope that you are not as careless with the deer as you are about reading your answers.

Department of Wildlife, the criteria for putting a sign is the same as for crosswalks for humans. Seven deaths per mile in one year
Deer don't read the signs and cross where you want them to. You know that there are deer in the area, so why don't you slow down and be more alert for them?
You need a deer crossing sign to remind you that there are deer in your area? Maybe a reminder taped to your dash board would help? Or maybe you are hoping the deer will read the sign and cross just where the sign is? Pesky deer...crossing willy nilly where ever they choose. Grrrr......

I have never seen a deer crossing. Is it like a pedestrian crossing?

Seriously though, The State DOT is who takes care of signs.
Your neighborhood probably needs a sign, but why do you care? You know the deer are there, you obviously don't need it.

Or are you thinking of other drivers who don't know what you know? That's so sweet!
I would say the State department of transportation would handle that.

Plus you'd want to make sure with the deer that that is the place where they will be crossing - sorry, old joke.
You need to call (704) 480-9020 and talk to the Assistant Division Traffic Engineer.
WHY DON'T YOU JUST CALL YOUR LOCAL DMV OFFICE, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO ANSWER ANY AND ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS AND AT THE SAME TIME YOU WILL BE GETTING THE CORRECT ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION.

OR CONTACT YOUR LOCAL HIGHWAY TRANSPORTATION OFFICE.
