What are some good questions to ask when looking for a deer lease?

I have never hunted much and have never had my own lease. I am hunting with a bow and want to hunt white tail deer. I don't really know how to look for legitimate places to hunt and when I do I don't know what to ask my potential land owner to make sure I am treating him right and not getting ripped off at the same time. Any advice will help. What are some good questions to ask when looking for a deer lease?
If you are thinking about leasing you need to know what the going rate is in your area. The best way is to get on the website of the various timber companies that operate in your state. These companies will all have land listed to lease. In my area that runs about $5 to $7 an acre. Parcels of land can run from 30 acres to 3000 acres or better. This may be your best bet to get some property that you just wish to bowhunt on.It is hard to find private property in my state that is not already leased. But the timber companies Have countless acres to lease. You may want to talk to a few like-minded individuals and lease several hundred acres. On the websites of the timber companies they provide a brief description of the property along with maps that show you where they are located. Which ever route you take, I wish you good luck and a successful hunting season. What are some good questions to ask when looking for a deer lease?
just go around to certain plots of land and find th owner. if they do not live there, get your hands on a plat book which shows who owns what in your county and all counties in your state. after you find the owner, introduce yourself and be friendly. if they suspect you could possibly be doing anything illegal or wrong in their woods, they might not lease it to you. simply ask if they would let you bow hunt on the land. be sure to mention the bow pat because some people might not like firearm hunting. after the owner says yes, ask if you can walk through the woods to scout for deer and a good place to set up your tree stand. and if you want to, you could ask if he has any information on the deer population and what the deer look like in that area. be sure to give the owner your informtion( email, phone number, etc.). and BE SURE TO THANK THEM.
