How do you take pics of yourself without looking like a deer caught in the headlights?

Even when someone else takes the pic, I look scared. Where on the camers do I look to get the best pic of me?How do you take pics of yourself without looking like a deer caught in the headlights?
You look directly into the lens. Your eyes will appear focused and natural. Imagine the lens is the eyes that will be looking at you. Look back. How do you take pics of yourself without looking like a deer caught in the headlights?
Try looking for your best mug of yourself using the PC monitor instead of the camera viewfinder.
try getting someone to take a picture when you lest expect it like when your doing something else that occpuies you so you dont even notice the camera.
lol don't open your eyes so much = ]
I actually learned this earlier today. I haven't tried it yet, but maybe you could put it to use. Look away from the camera and you or the person who is taking the picture count to three. On three turn your head back to the camera. That's it! I guess a lot of supermodels do this. It's suppose to help you look more natural.
Relax! Pretend you are a model, turn off the flash and have fun! Shoot a bunch and keep what you like (gotta love digital)
I think to get a really good picture of yourself you have to be relaxed....just take a bunch to get warmed up and then have fun with it!!

BTW- I took my avatar pic...and it took many tries to get a good one. Gotta love digital cameras!
Take a mirror picture so you know what you look like while your taking it. Practice your smile or your trademark smirk or whatever and use it in pictures. The best pictures are when you're having fun, it really shows.
Just don't look into camera lens. Look away. Maybe show that you're interested in something, as you put camera on say a 10 second timer.
just be normal... you can look right in at the lese or just look above the camer... act natural and try to look like someone didn't just get you off guard
