How does one overcome the fear of driving at night when knowing that deer are all around?

State law requires that a person with a learner's permit for driving must have completed 10 nighttime hours of driving (as well as 40 daytime hours) in order to obtain a driver's license. Just in the past two months, we have had near misses with deer running in front of us at night. Can't something be done to put them all behind fences in a zoo environment or something so that drivers don't have to worry about hitting them? From what I've read online, those deer whistles don't work very well. Should I drive with my bright lights on (in order to see the side of the roads better) or will that attract deer even more? If I turn my car stereo up full blast and open the windows, will that scare them off or attract them? HELP!How does one overcome the fear of driving at night when knowing that deer are all around?
You have to understand, humans are the ones that are invading the land where the deer usually live. With less and less land for them to live on, they are then driven to migrate more and more. So the best bet, would be for you to have someone drive you to a city area. That or learn what to look for when your driving. I live in an area that is very populated with deer. I just drive a safe speed, keep my music to a low volume, and pay attention to the area around me. Don't use cell phones. I also believe that you have a person that has a licence with you. They should also help look for the deer.

(bright lights are a good idea, unless another vehicle is close)

(loud music won't do anything either way.)

Remember humans are animals too.How does one overcome the fear of driving at night when knowing that deer are all around?
Be aware and don't take your eyes off the road.
Do not drive on well lit moon lit nights. It is when they are feeding. Or go slow and pay attention to the road and what is in front of you/
I live in L.A City I dont have to worry about deer !!! I have alot more to worry about than that !!!

but GOOD LUCK !!!
get drunk
get the deer whistles. dont use the brights, and practice driving in the neighborhoods where deer arent so prevelant.
maybe you should turn on your high beams to see better, or drive at a slow speed that way you'll be well prepared to stop whenever necessary.

Hey could you answer my bots question? no one has answered, I feel left out

Do your night driving in the ghetto. You won't have to worry about deer at all.
Drive in urban settings...
drink drive dont worry, kill the deer gut them and eat them all yum!
Dont speed and take the roads that are traveled more than back road ..i know that will not scare them off but you are less likely to see one on a road that is busy than a back dirt road or even a country road..
whatever you do dont swerve off the road ever. it doesnt matter what is in the road you are better off hitting it than running off a cliff or smashing into a tree. i would get one of those sensors to put in front of your car that beeps when you are in danger of hitting something. it will help with deer and cars. even if it so called ';dont work good'; its better than nothing. i heard that it did work though. you should always put your brights on to be safe. deer can hear way better than we can but if you think about it, they hear the car itself yet they still run in front of it instead of away so i dont think turning your radio up will help. it will just piss off the old people.
There has been a debate on this issue in Kansas state last year. The only solution to this is to drive responsibly. We just cannot avoid the deer crossing the road nor can we scare them. The only thing we can do is whenever you see a deer sign, please reduce the speed of the car (say below 10mph of the speed limit) and be a little bit more vigilant until you cross the area. Unfortunately, this is the only solution left for us.

GOOD LUCK..
I hit a deer a few years back and in that same area I've gone kind of slow ever since. To make myself feel better I usually have my brights on, sound system pounding bass %26amp; highs back when I had it, and drive kind of slow. You can also do what I did. Lie on the driving course. I just wrote down in the journal they make you keep that I did it. I also changed color of pens because if I saw a whole month done in the same ink I would be suspicious.
I never drive at night since I am terrified as well. Me and a buddy of mine took a late night trip to Wal-Mart to get some stuff for my computer one night and on the way back a deer ran out infront of me, went through my windshield, and I had to have my mouth wired shut for 9 months because it didn't die when it went through the windshield and when it was kicking trying to get up it kicked me in my jaw. I wish there was a way to cage them all up. Now when I drive at night I only drive my mother-in-law's big Ford Explorer ... All chromed out with a huge brush guard. Not only is it not possible for a deer to go through the window in that car since it sits so high up, but if I was to hit one it wont hurt the front of the truck not one bit with that brush guard.
nothing will work especially if you say the deer whistles don't work but lots of people have them. Just be lucky you can stop. Many big trucks cannot stop in time and make deer burger on the street.
