Unfortunately the deer love my mom's garden. Is there any humane way to keep them out w/out a huge fence?

I know there are granular and sprays you can try, but do they actually work? There is not enough room to erect a large fence so are there any humane ways, other than that, to keep them away from the tomato and eggplant plants?Unfortunately the deer love my mom's garden. Is there any humane way to keep them out w/out a huge fence?
I've included some products (there are many, including sprays, coyote urine, motion sensing sprinklers, etc) and tips in the links I provide below.

From my own experience, though....

Have a dog? Have him do his business around the perimeter of the garden.

In a private spot? Pee there yourself. Your pee is good for your compost pile, too.

Also, ask your hair stylist and dog groomer to give you your clippings after a haircut. Sprinkle the hair clippings around the perimeter.Unfortunately the deer love my mom's garden. Is there any humane way to keep them out w/out a huge fence?
Try to avoid chemicals since you have to eat the tomato and eggplant.

Why not use sound like the cars do?

';Sound - Some people suggest leaving a radio on in the yard. Less obtrusive,

especially where the neighbors are concerned, are high-pitched warning devices

activated by battery-operated motion detectors. A sonic unit can be heard by

both people and deer while an ultrasonic unit emits a sound only animals can hear.

These devices can detect animals 50 feet away and cover an area of 4,000

square feet. Do unnatural sounds deter deer? It depends. If there's food available

elsewhere, they will probably avoid the unpleasant surroundings in your yard. But

if there's nowhere else to eat, hunger will prevail. Like patrons of the only

restaurant in town, deer will put up with a lousy atmosphere to fill their stomachs.';

Also, try a combo of the other tips in the link.
Lee Valley sells a sensor sprinkler. Turn it on, and when it senses movement it will shoot a quick spray of water in that direction. You would just have to be careful using it during the day around sensitive plants who may burn in the mid-day sun if sprayed.
Go online and type in homade deer repellents, mostly it like hot pepper, garlic powder stuff you can get at the grocery store and mix together and spray on your plants and it's a lot cheaper then buying it at the store.
seen on the news the other day, some type of manure on your lawn keeps them away.but they were actually talking about human manure, was on chicago news
There is a deer repellant sold at most greenhouses. Also, human hair bagged in netting [nylons] helps.
